Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of equipment which enables employees to carry out tasks without having to construct a scaffolding. They are utilized to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common machinery found in warehouse and factory environment also.
Usually, construction lifts provide wheeled and powered bases that are capable of driving to the work location and have a platform on them that is responsible for lifting employees. There are many various types of lifts and every one is suited to various tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks or cherry pickers, are built with a long boom that has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where an employee can stand. Normally, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers normally utilize these machines to trim trees.
Every bucket truck has a boom assembly mounted to a standard truck, which allows these vehicles to move fast on normal roads. Furthermore, this increases the area that this machinery can service efficiently. This is particularly important for power companies. Like for instance, a lot of these companies use cherry pickers to elevate employees up so they could reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets must be checked on a regular basis and properly insulated as they are working close to potential shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also referred to as "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform which is mounted on an arm that is able to bend so as to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a complete circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are used for landscaping projects and are handy for maintenance work on already-completed projects which do not need easy access to the area directly below the jobsite. These lifts could be utilized for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and areas which are difficult to clean. Usually knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the boom extended.
