The forklift is an essential piece of machinery in most businesses which operate distribution centers, warehouses, industrial and storage handling plants. This great machine, the lift truck is made of various parts, such as the important carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Forklifts generally have different kinds of attachments as well. The following are some of the most important components of a lift truck.
Lift Truck Engine - At the rear of the equipment, the forklift has its power source. The different kinds of engine on the lift truck would require varying power sources. Like for instance, a lift truck with an IC engine could have any of the following as its power source: gasoline, diesel, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the lift truck and the most essential of all the lift truck parts is the frame of the truck. This forms the core of the machine. All other lift truck parts are connected to the base, like for instance the mast, wheels, axles counterweight and overhead guard. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks can be part of the frame assembly as well.
Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - While carrying heavy loads, the counterweight enables the machinery to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes connected to the back of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery provides balance and could function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the machinery. Several lift trucks have a cab area which is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are a lot of components situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such important parts like for example the seats, pedals, switches, levers, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
