The Future
Numerous attachments have been designed and made to be able to make rough terrain forklifts as efficient as possible. Booms, winches and rotating fork carriages allow the forklift to place materials in a more precise way. The booms or articulating booms are available in 2 different extendible arms and could reach up and over structures in order to place loads on interior roof slope settings or in the center of upper floors. New products and attachments are being designed and made all the time and would be available in the future.
A lot of improvements have been made with extra safety features becoming more prevalent. For instance, load-reach management devices are able to automatically restrict the forklift's reach, based on the load being handled as opposed to depending on the operator. Pressure sensors are utilized to be able to determine the weight of the load. This information is sent to a tiny electronic memory device that had all the load-reach limitations pre-programmed into it.
The memory of the boom would compare the extension and the angle of the boom with the safety limits, once the load is being placed into position. There is a warning system or an essential lock-up device which prevents the operator from over-reaching and possibly causing the boom to fail or the forklift to tip over.
