Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to stock up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This model has telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This particular model is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and could increase production while maximizing available storage space.
